86 countries, each with its current leaders, famous people and the places pinned on the atlas. Heads of state and government are shown as of July 2026.

Every country page follows the same pattern, so you can compare places easily. At the top is a short summary and a button that opens the country on the map. Below it you will find the current head of state and head of government, a list of famous people with a one-line note on why each matters, and then every pin we have for that country, grouped by theme: people, history, architecture, language, culture, festivals, folklore and crafts.

The atlas is deliberately small and spread across many regions rather than deep in a few. Some countries have only one or two pins; others have a dozen. The count under each name tells you how much there is to explore. A country with few pins is not less interesting, it simply means we have not reached it yet. You can suggest a missing place on the suggestion page.

Looking for something specific? Use the search box on the map to find a country, a place, a festival or a person such as a president or a famous writer. Results appear as you type and selecting one centres the map on it.

Frequently asked questions

How many countries are in the atlas?

The atlas currently covers 86 countries and territories across every inhabited continent, with 656 pins in total.

Who are the leaders shown on country pages?

Each page lists the head of state and the head of government where they differ, as of July 2026. Offices change after elections, so check an official government source before relying on a name.

Why does my country have only a few pins?

The collection is chosen to cover many regions evenly instead of listing everything. Missing places can be suggested and are reviewed by a person before they appear.

Can I browse by theme instead of by country?

Yes. The Themes page groups every pin by subject, such as festivals or architecture, and lists the countries each theme touches.

Are the famous people lists complete?

No. They are a short, varied selection of well-known figures from history, the arts, science, sport and public life, not a ranking.
