Eight ways into the same world: people, history, architecture, language, culture, festivals, folklore and crafts.
Each theme page gathers every pin of one kind from all over the world, grouped by country, with a short introduction and answers to common questions. It is a good starting point if you already know what you are curious about, for instance how different regions celebrate harvests, or how buildings changed from one empire to the next.
Prefer to compare things directly? The comparison sets place several versions of one idea side by side, such as tea rituals or carnival costumes. The trails turn pins into short guided routes you can follow stop by stop.

Frequently asked questions
What are the themes?
People, history, architecture, language, culture, festivals, folklore and crafts. Every pin belongs to exactly one theme, shown by its colour on the map.
What is the difference between a theme and a trail?
A theme collects all pins of one kind. A trail is a short hand-picked route through a few pins that tell one story.
Can I show several themes on the map at once?
Yes. On the map, the theme tabs can be combined so only the kinds of place you want are shown.
Do themes cover every country?
No. Each theme lists the countries where we have pins, and the number differs from theme to theme.
